(MENAFN - Arab News) In an effort to bridge the existing finance and accounting skills gap institute of management accountants' (ima) saudi arabia eastern province chapter recently held an event titled "power your potential" in alkhobar.

'it was evident by the number and type of questions during the saudi arabia — eastern province chapter of the institute of management accountants (ima) event that the community was eager to have such informative sessions in the region" said bassam m. al-asiri the chapter's president. 'the event was yet another testimony to the chapter's efforts to enhance the potential for management accounting and finance in the kingdom."

musaad al-sayouhi chapter board member inaugurated the event by highlighting the chapter's role in promoting finance and management accounting professions in the region. future goals and plans were also shared during the presentation including increasing number of publications supporting research and collaborating with local corporations and universities.

nadem. ashoor a member of finance management in saudi aramco and the keynote speaker gave the audience a flavor of how professional certifications validate the mastery of finance and accounting knowledge and skills by presenting "professional certifications: 7 reasons for you to consider them." a testimony on how the presentation inspired the attendees is evident from muhannad al-nefaie a young professional accountant stating: 'after attending this event i am even more determined and motivated to pursue the certified management accountant (cma) as it became one of my top priorities."



this event was enriched by a panel discussion moderated by ammr k. kurdi chief audit executive and assistant professor of accounting at king fahd university of petroleum and minerals (kfupm). panelists rabah z. ghazzawi bader h. faqeeh aneel a. iqbal and nader m. ashoor cmas in saudi aramco shared their personal experience on how to successfully pursue the certification and touched on the importance of professional certifications on career advancement.
