Pistorius trial hears from forensic expert


(MENAFN- Kora) Steenkamp was shot dead by the olympic and paralympic athlete last year in his pretoria home although?pistorius denies the charges of murder and claims he mistook his girlfriend for an intruder.

after the trial had previously heard from the prosecution that there was a short gap between the first and second shots fired at ms steenkamp roger dixon said on wednesday this was not the case.?

he instead stated that ms steenkamp was shot in quick succession - explaining that one bullet that hit her in the arm caused damage like "an instant amputation".

dixon also said ms steenkamp had been hit in the hip and arm by the first two of the four shots fired as she stood close to the edge of the door inside the bathroom.

prosecutor gerrie nel was quick to set about undermining dixon's evidence however by questioning him on his professional expertise.?

former policeman dixon was grilled by nel and described as "irresponsible" for going against what other witnesses have said in the trial in relation to ballistics and pathology.?

after dixon had said he did not have any expertise in sound light or ballistics nel also questioned his evidence in relation to steenkamp's wounds.?

the trial is due to adjourn on thursday and will not resume until may 5.?
