EGA to showcase impressive efficiency gains at WETEX 2014

(MENAFNEditorial) Committed to innovation through technology, yet equally dedicated to protecting the environment. This is the approach of Emirates Global Aluminium (EGA) - the jointly-owned, UAE-based aluminium conglomerate formed by Mubadala Development Corporation and Investment Corporation of Dubai - which will be promoted at this year's Water Energy Technology and Environment Exhibition (WETEX). EGA - which combines the businesses of two of the UAE's flagship industrial companies Dubai Aluminium (DUBAL) and Emirates Aluminium (EMAL) – will continue the industry's Strategic Sponsorship of the event. In addition, a senior company executive will deliver a presentation on the strides made in reducing energy consumption through cutting-edge technology development

The EGA stand at WETEX 2014 will highlight the company's world-leading DX and DX+ reduction cell technologies developed in-house at DUBAL that, by operating at higher amperages, not only increase productivity, but also reduce the impact of smelter operations on the environment through improved energy efficiency and minimised emission levels. With annual production capacity due to reach 2.4 million metric tonnes in 2014, EGA ranks among the leading primary aluminium producers in the world, by volume. The company is internationally renowned for its premium quality, high purity products; and exports about 80 per cent of its production to countries across the globe. Moreover, it has also achieved some of the highest standards in environmental protection, from optimising raw material usage through effective energy-use management, to minimising environmental impact through stringent management of air emissions, effluent discharge and waste

EGA's support of WETEX 2014 will extend beyond sponsorship by sharing expertise and promoting best practice through participating in the seminars and round-table discussions being hosted in parallel to the exhibition. Tayeb Al Awadhi (Vice President: Power & Desalination) will deliver a presentation on how DUBAL has made significant efficiency gains by implementing an integrated approach, which includes high standards in safety, energy conservation and environmental and health management.

Held at the Dubai International Convention & Exhibition Centre from 14 to 16 April 2014, the focus of WETEX 2014 is on advanced technologies in the areas of energy (i.e. fossil fuel, nuclear, renewable, power generation, smart grids, efficiency, conservation); water (i.e. management, treatment, desalination, utilities); and environment (i.e. waste management, green buildings and CO2 reduction solutions). The event aims to bring together the scientific, engineering, technology, and management communities to facilitate strategic partnerships in pursuit of innovative and sustainable solutions that will support the efforts of governmental agencies and civic authorities in these three key areas.
