(MENAFN - Muscat Daily) The Ministry of Education (MoE) organised a three-day cultural exchange programme at Qurm park. Named Cultural Carnival, it showcased food, culture and traditions of several countries.
Fatma Abdul Abbas Noorani, director general of private schools, MoE said, ''This was the first such carnival that the ministry has organised.
The aim was to promote tolerance towards other cultures and beliefs. This also gave children an opportunity to know about the cultural practices of other countries. Cuisines and hand-made products of different countries were on display.''
Fatma said at several Omani and international schools took part in this carnival. ''Participating schools came up with several exhibits. Cultural programmes were also held during the carnival which included drama, songs and poetry recitations by children. Parents, teachers and students shared views on several issues. Sharing makes a huge difference as people get to know about different cultures and traditions.''
She said that the ministry had asked participating schools to bring in handicrafts of their respective countries. ''Omani traditional handicrafts were also showcased.''
