(MENAFN- Muscat Daily) A seminar, ‘The Joint Archaeological Heritage of Oman, India and Pakistan' began on Wednesday at the lecture hall of Sultan Qaboos Grand Mosque. The two-day seminar has been organised by the Ministry of Heritage and Culture in cooperation with a number of scientific institutes supported by the US Department of State.
A group of scholars from Oman, India, Pakistan, Italy, France, Germany and the US are taking part in the seminar, which provides an opportunity for scholars to exchange information on new discoveries and explore the possibilities of cooperation in research, which can be published later. The seminar also promotes understanding on how countries cooperated with one another in the past.
Hassan bin Mohammad al Lawati, director general of archaeology and museums, said in his speech that the study of common cultural heritage through joint scientific and academic efforts will open ''a new vision of the past.''
He said that the three countries have a long history of interactions that began around 4,000BC.
