Qatar- Six experts get Al Attiyah awards


(MENAFN- The Peninsula) The Abdullah bin Hamad Al Attiyah International Energy Awards, instituted last year to celebrate the legacy of Qatar's former Minister of Energy, were conferred on six individuals, including Dr Ibrahim Ibrahim, Economic Adviser to the Emir, for their life time achievements in the advancement of the global energy industry.



Held at the Museum of Islamic Art in the presence of H E Abdullah bin Hamad Al Attiyah, H E Dr Mohammed bin Saleh Al Sada, the Minister of Energy and Industry, H E Sheikha Al Mayassa bint Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani, Chairperson of the Board of Trustees of Qatar Museums Authority, and top energy leaders, the second edition of Al Attiyah Energy Awards recognised the top energy officials for their distinct personal accomplishments in the industry over the course of their careers



In addition to Dr Ibrahim Ibrahim, awards went to Dr Adnan Shihab Eldin, Director General of Kuwait Foundation for the Advancement of Sciences; Nobuo Tanaka, Global Associate for Energy Security and Sistainability at the Institute of Energy Economics, Japan; Prof Tan Chorh Chuan, President of the National University of Singapore; and Walid Khadduri, the former Editor-in-Chief of the Middle East Economic Survey. Dr Rilwanu, Adviser on Energy and Strategic Matters to the President of Nigeria and a former Opec secretary general, was presented with an honorary award
