400 graduating Omani students likely to get placed through CCE fair


(MENAFN- Muscat Daily) At least 35 companies are participating in the two-day career fair, which began at Caledonian College of Engineering (CCE) on Tuesday. The fair is being organised for final year students of the college. 


Some of the participating companies are Galfar Engineering and Contracting, Doka Muscat, Douglas, Omantel, Mohsin Haider Darwish and Bahwan Engineering, Etihad Airways and Etkins. Syed Khurshid Asif, manager for industry relations and corporate training at CCE, said, ''This is the 16th career fair organised by the college. Apart from regular participants, several new companies are taking part in this year's fair. We hope that at least 400 jobs will be offered to final year students.''


''The response has been good as students are interacting with representatives of participating firms to discuss job prospects,'' he added. Asif said that the booming Omani job market will provide several opportunities for graduates in different engineering disciplines. ''Around 600 final year students from civil, mechanical, IT and electrical departments will pass out this year.''


The fair was inaugurated by H H Sayyida Dr Muna bint Fahd al Said, assistant vice chancellor for international cooperation, Sultan Qaboos University. Also present at the inauguration were Dr Ahmed Hassan al Bulushi, acting dean of CCE and Dr P Mohamed Ali, chairman of the board of directors at CC
