(MENAFN - Arab Times) Abdulhameed Dashti has said he will spare no effort to resist the Gulf security pact clinging to international humanitarian laws and the Vienna and Geneva pacts, reports Al-Watan Arabic daily. He said the security pact interferes with Kuwait's constitution and rouses doubts in the mind of Kuwaiti citizens, because they are used to freedom and democracy since childhood. He expressed resentment on the level of tension on the political state of affairs in the country due to randomness on the part of government and the successive parliaments. He stressed need for application of law and dealing with corrupt people with their beneficiaries who influence political decisions. "Although the government is responsible for the annual plan and five years development plan, it is the main cause of the suspension of development in the country," he noted. He attributed the current situation to the executive authority's inability to select efficient personnel to implement the development plan. He reiterated that the goal behind establishing the supreme Shiite council in Kuwait is to cope with the political, tribal and sectarian blocs to merge the political blocs

Meanwhile, former parliament speaker Jassem Al- Kharafi has affirmed that 90 percent of those who have commented on the GCC Security Pact have not read it. He stressed the importance of reading the pact meticulously for the good of Kuwait and its relations with other GCC countries, reports Al- Qabas daily. In a press statement issued on the sidelines of an event held at the Embassy of Senegal in Kuwait to celebrate Senegal's National Day, Al-Kharafi said, "Those who claim the pact is not constitutional must study the article about unconstitutionality and compare it with the Kuwaiti Constitution". Regarding the child allowance issue, he said, "I think there are an appropriate number of lawmakrs in the parliament and each of them have the right to his/her viewpoint about what is best for Kuwait". Meanwhile, Minister of Social Affairs and Labor, and State Minister for Planning and Development Affairs Hind Al-Sabeeh stressed that step of selecting officials to occupy senior positions is in the hands of the minister who has the right to select the most appropriate candidates for occupying the positions. In a press statement, she said the ministry is suffering from several problems due to which she selects those she thinks are appropriate for occupying the senior positions to help her manage the ministry

Sources said the minister met with a number of directors who expressed their resentment over the nominations presented by the Cabinet for the senior positions in the ministry, as they believed they deserved to take up these positions due to their experience and achievements in the ministry for many years

They revealed that a lawmaker held discussions with the minister after her meeting with the directors and she had affirmed to the lawmaker that she approved the nominations but it was her right to select those appropriate for the positions based on her viewpoint. In another development, the Undersecretary of Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs Dr Adel Al- Falah disclosed that the ministry will, in collaboration with the Ministry of Interior, organize a number of lectures in all governorates to increase the awareness of youths, promote Islamic moderation and protect them from extremist ideologies and bids for 'Jihad'. He stressed that the ministry is keen about increasing the awareness of the youths regarding some groups that claim they are religious but in reality work against the religion. He added that the ministry is also keen on spreading the principle of Islamic moderation in the society particularly among the youths
