This honor closely follows Acer's four big wins at the 2014 iF Product Design Awards last month, which also included the Acer TravelMate P645 among its winners. In a rigorous evaluation process led by a 40-member panel of international design experts, including distinguished fashion designer Jimmy Choo, only the best products were bestowed with the sought-after award for design excellence

Red Dot's adjudication process follows a canon of strict criteria, which is constantly adapted to the latest findings in formal, technical, manufacturing, societal, industrial and ecological requirements. The criteria evaluated are: degree of innovation, functionality, formal quality, ergonomics, durability, symbolic and emotional content, product periphery, self-explanatory quality, and ecological compatibility
