Oman Oil eyeing Occidental's assets


(MENAFN) A senior official at the Omani Ministry of Oil and Gas said that Oman Oil Company is eyeing Occidental Petroleum's assets in the Sultanate, Times of Oman reported



Occidental recently announced that it plans to sell its assets in the Middle East to individual countries rather than a consortium as previously planned



State investment companies from Oman, UAE and Qatar had earlier formed a consortium to buy Occidental's USD8 billion assets in the region



The undersecretary of the Omani Ministry of Oil and Gas told Times of Oman: "If the offer comes, Oman Oil will be interested. We are always interested in any opportunity.
