Kuwait- MoE plans to stop providing 'meals'


(MENAFN- Arab Times) The Ministry of Education intends to stop providing meals to students in the elementary stage starting from next academic year, reports Al-Watan Arabic daily quoting sources. Sources explained the educational sector officials will evaluate the program after its implementation for four years.



Sources said Minister of Education and Higher Education Ahmad Al-Muleifi continues to conduct surprise visits in some schools to know the opinion of the administration on the cancellation of the project that costs the ministry KD59 million annually. Sources said the items in the school canteens will be changed in case the cancellation pushes through and this will be done in cooperation with the cooperative societies. Sources added the ministry's contract with nutrition companies will end in June, but there has been no announcement on its renewal until now
