A financial analyst faced trial on sunday for allegedly molesting a female colleague at their office in dubai. the 40-year-old indian defendant was charged with molestation and sexual harassment in the court of first instance.
The complainant a 27-year-old indian said the incident took place on november 12 last year at their office in jebel ali. “i was making tea around 9.30 am in the office kitchen when the accused passed behind me and touched me inappropriately” she said. when she confronted him he reportedly laughed at her.
As she walked towards the lift the accused followed her she said. “while we were heading to the second floor he touched my face and grabbed my head. i could not push him away as i was very scared.”
The woman said she complained to the company’s human resources department and was told that the defendant would be punished. she waited for about two weeks before she filed a police complaint. “the hr manager summoned the accused and confronted him with my accusations. he confessed and asked for my forgiveness” she claimed.
The hr manager 39 a barbados national said in the investigation that the accused confessed in her office that he touched the woman. “he said he did it by mistake and intended no wrong. he also said he grabbed her head as an expression of friendship.”
The manager said the accused was given a written notice and ordered to not repeat his behaviour.
