(MENAFN - Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) Tunisian Foreign Minister Mongi Hamdi on Friday lauded as "excellent" the outcome of Interim Prime Minister Mehdi Jomaa's tour of five GCC countries, namely the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Qatar and Bahrain between March 15 and 19

"The leaders of the five GCC countries, particularly the UAE, Qatar and Kuwait, stated desire to help Tunisia overcome the current economic difficulties through enhanced long-term investments," TAP news agency cited him as saying

"The tune of the financial assistance to be provided by the three GCC countries to the Tunisian government will be determined during the coming bilateral meetings of the joint commissions," said Hamdi who accompanied Jomma during the trip along with Minister of Finance Hakim Ben Hamouda and chairperson of Tunisian Union for Industry, Commerce and Handicrafts (UTICA) Wided Bou Chamaou

br>"A number of leading UAE investors will be visiting Tunisia soon to discuss the implementation of mega projects such as the economic city in Enfidha, the sports city in Tunis and the international harbor in Rades," he noted. The State of Kuwait asked Tunisia to cut the red tape in order to remove the obstacles facing Kuwaiti investors willing to do business in Tunisia, Hamdi went on

The Tunisian government will do its utmost to facilitate the foreign direct investment (FDI), particularly the GCC investments, with a view to revitalizing economic growth and creating more jobs for youths in marginalized areas, he noted

"The Tunisian diplomacy, which used to focus on European FDI, turned to the investments from the GCC countries due to their pivotal role in the Arab and Islamic economies; this tendency was shown in the excellent trip of the Prime Minister," the minister added.
