Fifth Qatar International Food Festival Opens

(MENAFN- Qatar News Agency) The fifth Qatar International Food Festival (QIFF) opened tonight at Museum of Islamic Art (MIA) Park. The opening ceremony was attended by HE Minister of Culture, Arts and Heritage Dr. Hamad Abdulaziz Al Kuwari, Chairman of Qatar Tourism Authority Isa bin Mohammed Al Mohanadi and Qatar Airways CEO Akber Al Baker. This festival, organized by Qatar Tourism Authority (QTA) and Qatar Airways will highlight healthy food, traditional Qatari dishes and the Qatar-Brazil Year of Culture through cuisine and entertainment.

The four - day event will feature Healthy and Active Zone, Snack Zone, Family Zone and Qatar Brazil Zone. "The dining alternatives in Doha continue to grow year after year, and the Food Festival is a great way to showcase new tastes and trends," said Issa Al Mohannadi, Chairman of QTA. "QIFF has been growing every year in size and popularity, and in keeping with that trend I expect this fifth edition will be the biggest and best yet." "Qatar Airways is proud to be a partner for QIFF once again in 2014," said Akbar Al Baker, CEO of Qatar Airways.

"In their own way, both QIFF and Qatar Airways are playing a part in connecting Qatar with the rest of the world € one through amazing culinary experiences and the other through amazing travel experiences." World famous chefs will join many of the top restaurants in Doha to celebrate fine dining with the freshest ingredients and latest food trends and tastes, as well as healthy eating options. The event will feature Dinner on a Dhow, sponsored by Souq Waqif Boutique Hotels, or the popular BBQ Donut, sponsored by the Diplomatic Club, both of which are located in the Water Zone.

The popular Dinner in the Sky is next to the main stage, giving diners a chance to take in the wonderful aerial views of the Doha skyline and the festival while dining 40 metres above ground. The Qatar Airways Cooking Theatre in the Live Cooking Zone will be home to award-winning celebrity TV chef, Ramzi Choueiri, from Lebanon who will perform demonstrations for avid 'foodies' in Doha.

A shuttle service will run between two dedicated parking lots and MIA Park, the first one near Al Bidda Park, and the second near Al Sharq. This service will run from 5.30pm to 11pm today, 1.30pm to 11pm on Friday, noon to 10pm on Saturday, 1.30pm to 10pm on Sunday and will help ease the amount of traffic to and from the venue. Signage will be placed along both routes to help drivers identify and locate the parking lots. The festival will conclude on Sunday
