Open air cinema at The Capital Club

(MENAFNEditorial) The Capital Club, Dubai's premier private business club and a member of the ENSHAA group of companies, along with leading home entertainment solutions provider Archimedia is proud to present an evening of open air cinema as part of its longstanding commitment to supporting the arts in Dubai.

On the Gate VillageTerrace on the evening of Monday 17th March, Members will be treated to a double bill, showcasing the full range of film's potential to change lives. Both are road movies with real emotional impact. At 7pm comes The Story Of One Yellow Bike, a short independent film produced here and showing how the donations of a child's bike to a Ugandan village affected both its young recipient and its older donor in Dubai. At 8pm will be Nebraska, nominated for no less than six Oscars at the 2014 Academy Awards. A unique look at post-recession America by Director Alexander Payne (Sideways, The Descendants), it follows an old man's journey across country to collect the million dollar prize he believes he's won, accompanied by his estranged son. Funny, moving and unsparingly honest about family ties, it won huge praise for Bruce Dern in the lead role, including a Best Actor award at the Cannes International Film Festival

This Arthouse double-bill forms part of Art Nights At Gate Village, an ongoing series of events highlighting the important role that Dubai plays in bringing artists and art enthusiasts together

"Dubai's International Financial Centre is an important player in funding and promoting the arts, both nationally and globally," says The Capital Club's general manager Emma Cullen. "As well as unparalleled business and social opportunities, our calendar of exceptional events brings enjoyment, inspiration and relaxation at the end of the day. The Story Of One Yellow Bike is a timely reminder that corporate social responsibility is all about happiness, while Nebraska is not just a great story, but a vision of real lives in America that we rarely see on film. The Capital Club is proud to be working with Archimeda on this cinematic experience.
