Kuwait- Bid To Tackle Human Trafficking


(MENAFN- Arab Times) The International Organization for Migration (IOM) will soon present the national anti-human trafficking transmission system project to the Ministry of Interior, says Chief of Mission at IOM-Kuwait Eman Ereiqat



Eraiqat made the announcement Thursday at the United Nations Headquarters during the closing ceremony for those who completed the training course entitled, "Role of Security Operatives in Identifying Human Trafficking Cases". She said the ministry will benefit from trainings related to human trafficking cases and how to handle them according to the Kuwaiti Constitution



She explained the methodology will be beneficial as it goes beyond mere execution of the Constitution. She disclosed the just-concluded training course was organized to raise awareness on the role of security operatives in human trafficking cases. Other objectives of the course included defining the concept of trafficking and role of IOM in responding to human trafficking reports, in addition to manner of dealing with such crimes



She emphasized essence of laying down regulations in approaching the victims and witnesses, as well as defining the role of civil society organizations in identifying victims and offering aids. She added that defining role of the law execution authority in contacting victims of human trafficking is necessary by looking into violations against workers and handling such issues in line with the Kuwaiti Constitution
