DMCA launches new license issuance initiatives for foreign yachts for Dubai International Boat Show 2014


(MENAFNEditorial) The Dubai Maritime City Authority (DMCA) has introduced a series of new initiatives for facilitating the issuance of official permits for foreign yachts participating at the 2014 Dubai International Boat Show 2014 running from March 4 to 8, 2014 at the Dubai International Marine Club in Mina Seyahi. The initiatives are in line with the Authority's commitment to supporting the largest, most important and most established maritime event of its kind in the region,

DMCA announced its new initiatives during a coordination meeting held in the presence of senior officials of the Dubai Coast Guard, Dubai Customs, and the General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs-Dubai. The session focused on to the development of a unified mechanism for ensuring the smooth progress of work in line with efforts to ensure the success of the 22nd edition of the fastest growing leisure marine industry exhibition in the world. The current edition has posted a 12 per cent increase in the number of participating exhibitors.

Ali Al Dabbous, Executive Director of Operations, Dubai Maritime City Authority, said: "The issuance of official permits for foreign yachts forms part of our strategy of creating a safe and sustainable environment that is able to respond effectively to rapid changes, keep up with emerging trends, attract regional and international investors, and establish Dubai as a leading global maritime hub. Our cooperation with the General Directorate Of Residency And Foreigners Affairs-Dubai is an important step towards strengthening the UAE's status as a key player in the international yachting industry.





"We are pleased to be part of ongoing efforts to promote Dubai International Boat Show as one of the world's leading luxury yachting and boating events. The guidelines on Foreign Yachts Permits definitely serve as a key regulatory addition to this prestigious long-standing maritime event. DMCA is highly committed to offering all facilities and services in support of the 22nd edition which is poised to showcase the largest collection ever of luxury yachts on water. The show will display a variety of boats which will be making their regional and even global debuts to meet the remarkable growth in the world's leisure and luxury cruising market," Dabbous added.



The issuance of Foreign Yachts Permits is part of the first-ever batch of maritime licensing services for recreational, commercial, sports, tourist and traditional marine vessels within Dubai's waters. The permits are given only upon strict compliance with Dubai's technical specifications, local maritime safety systems, and eco-friendly requirements.



"The renewable Foreign Yachts Permits are valid for three months and allow foreign marine vessels to sail within Dubai waters. We intend to continue coordinating closely with concerned local entities such as marine clubs and waterfront hotels to facilitate efficient licensing mechanisms and enable foreign marine vessel owners to license their vessels seamlessly and promptly," concluded Adel Kalantar, Head – Registration and Licensing Department, Dubai Maritime City Authority
