SCH, Awqaf Cooperate in Combatting Tobacco


(MENAFN- Qatar News Agency) The Supreme Council of Health (SCH) and the Ministry of Awqaf (Religious Endowments and Islamic Affairs (Awqaf) on Sunday signed a cooperation agreement on combating tobacco and its derivatives.



The Agreement was signed by Director of Public Health Department at SCH Dr. Sheikh Mohamed bin Hamad bin Jassim Al Thani and Mohamed Jabor Al-Mesaifri, the Administrative Expert at the office of HE the Minister of Awqa



The cooperation agreement comes in the context of combatting tobacco and its derivatives and stamping out the dangers of its use among all segments of society, especially young people of both sexe



This agreement is the culmination of a partnership which aims to achieve the best possible results through maximum efforts to eradicate the tobacco use in the State of Qatar, said Sheikh Mohamed bin Hamad bin Jassim Al Than



Al-Mesaifri said the agreement will have a profound impact on the unification of efforts and the preparation of well thought out plans for combatting the using of tobacco and its derivatives, as well as raising the awareness of citizen and resident about its danger



It will be the beginning of a great cooperation between the SCH and Awqaf Ministry where the two sides will jointly work on developing campaigns, events and educational programs for this purpose.
