Dubai, United Arab Emirate

The Dubai Creek is continuing to drive the tourism and hospitality sectors in the Emirate, in the lead up to the iconic area's bid to be registered as a UNESCO World Heritage site in June of this year

With century-old architectural structures and a number of bustling souks (markets) and other tourist attractions, Dubai Municipality is expecting the number of visitors to the area to double to four million following the UNESCO registration, generating extra revenue of AED10 billion per year, according to Rashid Bukhash, Director of the Architectural Heritage Department

Dubai Municipality is investing in a number of projects, including the expansion and refurbishment of existing attractions, aimed at supporting the UNESCO bid, as the Dubai Creek's popularity amongst residents and travellers alike continues to soar

In line with the Dubai Municipality's vision to reaffirm the Creek's position as a bustling trade, tourism and hospitality hub, the iconic Sheraton Dubai Creek Hotel & Towers is set to reopen its doors on 9 April, following a USD50 million renovations and refurbishment project of its guestrooms, public spaces and restaurants

"The Creek has long been known as the heart and soul of Dubai, and the Sheraton Dubai Creek Hotel & Towers has been a part of this history for over 35 years. We have had the pleasure of extending our warm hospitality on the trade waters of Dubai Creek for close to four decades, and we're proud to be able to help discerning guests rediscover Dubai's iconic gathering place," said Stephan Vanden Auweele, General Manager, who was appointed in 2013 to spearhead the extensive renovation of the landmark hotel, representing his fourth opening and Sheraton property in his career to date

The 268 fully refurbished and brand new rooms and suites provide a stylish, relaxing escape from the bustling city for both business and leisure travellers, in the perfect setting of style and technology, offering unparalleled views of the historic Dubai Creek or Dubai's unique skyline

Located in the heart of Dubai's heritage, it offers the chance to discover the authenticity of traditional Dubai markets, the old merchant market of Al Bastakiya, the Dubai Museum, or simply the Creek itself via the many dhow cruises available on the hotel's doorstep

The refurbished Vivaldi, heralded as one of the best Italian restaurants in Dubai since 2000, will now offer a creative and exciting menu with unrivalled views of the Creek and skyline
