QP is Energy Partner and sponsor of Entrepreneurship Forum


(MENAFNEditorial) Qatar Petroleum (QP) will be the official energy partner and sponsor of the Entrepreneurship in Economic Development Forum, which is under the patronage of H.E. Dr Mohammed bin Saleh Al Sada, Minister of Energy and Industry in Qatar and is organized by Qatar University (QU) in collaboration with Interactive Business Network (IBN)



H.E. Dr Mohammed bin Saleh Al Sada, who is also the Chairman and Managing Director of Qatar Petroleum, will deliver the keynote address to open forum, which takes place on 24th and 25th February 2014 at Qatar University



The two-day event will be a platform for experts from business and academia from across the GCC and internationally to discuss future plans and strategies for supporting entrepreneurship, which is expected to grow by 40 per cent in the coming year and to create 2,000 new jobs in Qatar



The Forum will be the first of its kind in the region and has as its theme "fostering the new generation of entrepreneurs in Qatar and the Gulf". It will bring together young, prospective business owners with established business leaders to encourage and support the spirit of entrepreneurship in Qatar and the Gulf through practical advice. Keynote speeches and panel discussions will cover topics including the role of education in encouraging a spirit of entrepreneurship among young people, how government policy can support entrepreneurs, the makings of an entrepreneur and the role of public agencies, banks and angel investors in providing financing for business start-ups



Raed Chehaib, Chief Executive of IBN, said: "We are very grateful to HE Dr Al Sada for his support for this forum as patron, and to Qatar Petroleum for being our Energy Partner. Thanks must also go to Qatar University for organizing this important event



"This forum will attract the region's experts from academia and business who will discuss key topics around the issue of promoting entrepreneurship in Qatar and the wider Gulf. They will examine how state and private sectors can collaborate to create suitable financial, educational and societial support networks for start-ups, emerging SMEs and entrepreneurs. Meanwhile, etablished business leaders will share their experiences in making a success of their organizations. The College of Business and Economics, in collaboration with the College of Engineering, organises an annual business plan competition for all Qatar University students and has an excellent track-record of student accomplishments in national and international business competitions, such as Al Fikra.
