(MENAFN- Kora) Mahan, who has made the final of the past two WGC-Accenture Match Play events and won in 2012, has finished in the top 10 of two of his past three tournaments
The 31-year-old American has not won a major title since the Houston Open in April, 2012; less than two months after he defeated Rory McIlroy at Dove Mountain in Arizona to lift the WGC-Accenture Match Play trophy
Matt Kuchar defeated Mahan two and one last year and also has good form at the event, having made the last eight three years in a row
Kuchar made the quarter-finals in 2012 and finished third in 2011
England's Ian Poulter is a renowned match-play specialist and will be expected to challenge yet again in the tournament he won in 2010, while Henrik Stenson of Sweden and Luke Donald of England are other former winners set to return to Dove Mountain this week
Poulter made the semi-finals last year where he was defeated four and three by Mahan, before losing the third-place play-off to Australia's Jason Day on the final hole
Three of the top four players in the world will not be in action, however, with Tiger Woods, Adam Scott and Phil Mickelson all having indicated they will not compete in Arizona
