Kuwait - MEW to blame for delay in reopening Towers

(MENAFN- Arab Times) Ministry of Electricity and Water (MEW) is held responsible for delaying the re-opening of Kuwait Towers to visitors. In this context, the Assistant Undersecretary for Power Projects and Water Distillation Engineer Eyad Al- Falah attributed the delay to the contractor that was assigned to develop fire control systems in the towers for violating the terms of contract.

He noted the sector has since signed a contract with another agent for completion of the project. In a press statement, Al-Falah said tender was floated at the end of 2011 for execution of fire control systems in the Kuwait Towers, and that one local company was awarded its implementation, but the company failed to deliver in time. Accordingly, the ministry submitted a memo to its undersecretary asking for termination of the contract with the local company, while the ministry and Central Tenders Committee unanimously agreed on canceling the contract. He reiterated the ministry is preparing to engage another contractor to complete the project, so the previous contractor has sued the ministry
