Qatar - QTF takes part in NSD celebrations

(MENAFN- The Peninsula) As National Sport Day (NSD) was celebrated all across the country on Tuesday, the day of activity and festivity was celebrated at the Qatar Total Open in a big way by Qatar Tennis Federation (QTF).

With the top female tennis players in the world playing at the WTA Premier 5 event in Doha this week, the tournament capitalized on their presence in the country to highlight National Sports Day. Title sponsor, Total Qatar, held their corporate tennis tournament final at the Khalifa International Tennis & Squash Complex on the morning of National Sports Day.

A Schools Festival was also held on the morning of National Sports Day at the Qatar Total Open. School children were introduced to the fundamentals of the sport and enjoyed various tennis and fitness drills. WTA Simona Halep, Anqelique Kerber and Annika Beck were on hand to play with the children and take photos

"Qatar National Sport Day is the perfect platform to expose youngsters to all that tennis has to offer. They can experience the fun of the game and be inspired to pursue their own tennis goals. Seeing all these children outside enjoying fitness and tennis is real inspirational because our aim is to develop the next tennis star of Qatar," Qatar Total Open Tournament Director, Saad Al Mohannadi, said

QTF also held events at Katara, the General Post Office, Al Dafna Park, Ezdan Mall and the Transit Hall at the old Doha International Airport in honor of National Sports Day
