The 2,244 kilometer railway project across Oman is part of a larger railway project linking all six GCC countries

The project can help Oman to push its economy away from only depending on oil and gas by facilitating trade and industrial projects, while increasing the GCC"s geopolitical security by giving them a trade route that bypasses the Strait of Hormuz

The Gulf nation"s Minister of Transport and Communications said that this is one of three deals related to the railway project
