Passenger traffic soars 6 percent in Kuwait airport


(MENAFN) Passenger growth at the Kuwait International Airport hit six percent last year, Arabian Business reported



The Directorate General of Civil Aviation announced that the number of passengers rose to 9.8 million during the year



Traffic from the GCC sector had the most contribution to the increase with a surge of 46.4 percent. Other Arab destination contributed with 20.6 percent, while Asia's contribution came at 21.9 percent



A USD2.1 billion expansion and upgrade plan had been announced by the airport back in in 2011 which is expected to increase capacity by the double to initially 13 million
