(MENAFN) King Abdullah Port in King Abdullah Economic City announced that effective import and export operations have started earlier this month, Saudi Gazette reported
Facilities for all relevant government agencies are established within the port. Such facilities include Saudi Coast Guard, Saudi Customs and Saudi Food and Drug Administration
The port aims at complementing the system of Saudi ports and help ease the demand and the need for export, import and transit services capacity
King Abdullah Port operates with eight STS cranes. The port has a capacity to handle around 1,000,000 TEU/ year, increasing to 1,400,000 TEU/year by the end of 2014
