Kuwait - BMW 7 Series Mideast sales up 16% in 2013


(MENAFN- Arab Times) The BMW 7 Series, the company's flagship model, has reaffirmed its ongoing success and market dominance yet again with sales increasing 16% in 2013. Throughout the year, the BMW Group sold 4,815 of these premium luxury sedans to customers across the Middle East compared to 4,044 in 2012, making it a leader in its premium luxury sedan segment, and a strong contributor to the company's overall record sales growth in the Middle East in 2013. Saudi Arabia, one of the world's fastest growing automotive markets was the main contributing market selling 1,631 BMW 7 Series vehicles in 2013, followed by the UAE and Kuwait with 1,299 and 1,077 vehicles respectively. Kuwait led the double-digit growth in the region for the 7 Series with an impressive 98% increase in sales. Other key markets that had double digit growth for BMW's flagship model were Oman with 24%, Qatar with 19% and Abu Dhabi with 12%



Commenting on the success of the BMW 7 Series in the region, Alexander Eftimov, Director Sales & Marketing for BMW Group Middle East, said: "We have a focused strategy with our importer partners across the region to ensure that we maintain the 7 Series' leadership position, and it has proved extremely successful making the Middle East the third biggest market worldwide for 7 Series sales." Eftimov added: "The 7 Series was chosen by the Dubai Airport Management for the transport of VIP passengers travelling between the aircraft and the terminal. It was also the vehicle of choice selected by the Civil Aviation Authority in Bahrain for the Bahrain International Air show to provide luxury transportation for its VIP guests. A recent visit by BMW Group Board Member Dr. Ian Robertson to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia reiterated BMW's commitment to the market where the 7 Series accounts for 43% of the total sales volume and continues to garner popularity with the affluent Saudi customers in addition to the large commercial entities," added Eftimov



In November the Dubai International Motor Show saw the launch of the first ever BMW 7 Series model to wear the famed M badge - BMW 760Li V12 M Bi-Turbo. Powerful to the core, this is the fastest BMW 7 Series to ever launch. The vehicle has a 6.0-litre V12 Twin-Turbo charged engine that produces 544hp and takes the sedan from 0 to 100km/h in 4.6 seconds
