Manning ignoring 'legacy' talk

(MENAFN- Kora) At 37 years of age and in his 16th NFL season, Manning will undoubtedly finish his career as one of the greatest quarterbacks to ever play the sport

But question marks remain about where Manning will rank, as he is generally considered not to have made the most of his opportunities in the NFL play-offs

Manning, however, does not think it is worth talking about what mark he will leave on the NFL when he feels far from ready to retire and is preparing for his third Super Bowl and his first with the Broncos

"I have been asked about my legacy since I was about 25 years old and I am not sure you can have a legacy at 25 years old or even 37," Manning said

"I thought you had to be like 70 to have a legacy so I am not 100 per cent sure what the word even means

"I am still in the middle of my career, let me rephrase that € the home stretch of my career € but I am still in it

"It is not over yet it is still playing out and this has been the second chapter of my career and it is an exciting chapter and I am excited to be back at the Super Bowl on behalf of Denver Broncos.

The former Indianapolis QB won the Super Bowl with the Colts at the end of the 2006 season, while he ended on the losing side three years later against the New Orleans Saints

While Manning is one of the most experienced members of Denver's line-up heading into the Super Bowl against the Seattle Seahawks, he says he is just as excited as the players getting ready for their first season-deciding match

"It is very exciting to be in the Super Bowl," Manning said

"I was telling someone earlier we only have four players in the team who have played in a Super Bowl. There are a number of players that are really on cloud nine right now, a lot of players who are really pumped up to be here as they should

"I am just as excited at 37 years old playing in my third one. I know how hard it is to get here, there are a lot of coaches who have been coaching in the NFL for a long time who have not been a part of Super Bowl before. It is special, it takes a lot of hard work to get here.
