Real estate loans by banks up to QR85.4bn


(MENAFN- The Peninsula) The assets and liabilities of Banks in Qatar have increased by QR13.1bn, up 1.5 percent to reach QR915.9bn in December 2013, compared to QR902.8bn at the end of November 2013. Total credit facilities to the real estate sector increased by QR2.5bn to QR85.4bn in December



Figures of the consolidated balance sheet of the banks published by Qatar Central Bank (QCB) show the Banks' deposits at the QCB decreased about QR3.7bn to reach QR31.5bn in December. The government and public sector deposits have also decreased by QR1.4bn to QR230.1bn in December. On the other hand, the total government and the public sector loans increased by QR2bn to reach QR239.7bn



The Group Securities that analyzed the QCB data noted the total local private sector deposits at banks by the end of December increased by around QR11.8bn to reach QR277.4bn in addition to QR7.3bn deposits of non-banking financial institutions.



The total loans and credit facilities provided by domestic banks to the domestic private sector in December increased by around QR4.4bn to QR286.3bn in addition to loans worth QR6.9bn for the non-bank financial sector



The total credit facilities to the real estate sector increased by QR2.5bn in December. Loans and credit facilities to the trade sector grew by QR1.4bn to reach QR36bn. Credit to the services and contractors rose by QR0.2bn and 0.9bn respectively. While the credit facilities to the services sector amounted to QR44.8bn, facilities to the Contractors amounted to QR23.3bn. credit facilities to the industrial sector rose by QR1.6bn to QR11.6bn and "other sectors" saw decrease of QR1.1bn to QR5bn



Banks' investments in securities outside Qatar decreased by QR0.2bn to reach QR25.4bn and distributed bonds and Sukuk worth QR22.1bn, shares and others QR3.3bn



Banks' deposits or assets with banks outside Qatar increased by QR7.5bn to reach QR68.6bn. Lloans to parties outside Qatar increased by QR1bn to reach QR42.3bn. In contrast, liabilities of local banks to foreign banks decreased by QR7.4bn to QR120.7bn and debts of local banks to parties outside Qatar in form of Bonds, certificates of deposit and other decreased by qR0.7bn to reach QR45.6bn.



Deposits or assets of banks with other local banks decreased by QR0.3bn to become QR17.7bn, also liabilities of local banks from other banks inside Qatar increased by QR0.2bn to QR16.9bn



Banks' capital and reserves settled at the level of QR114.8bn. Other non-classified liabilities increased by QR0.7bn to reach QR39.2bn. Banks' assets of cash and precious metals increased by QR0.1bn to the level of QR4.4bn in December 2013
