The Dubai Police's programme 'All of us police' recorded 31,118 traffic violations in 2013. The programme was designed to spot reckless driving through complaints from the public, and surveillance cameras
The programme recorded 12,324 violations via the cameras, while 18,564 were reported by the public
Major-General Mohammed Saif Al Zafin, Director of the General Department of Traffic, said the programme is operated through the control room of the Dubai Police
The public can report aggressive driving on toll free number 8004353. Al Zafin said the police issue fines through this programme only after calling the reported driver, informing him and verifying whether he was in the area he was reported from. If the complainant is a director of a government department or a police official, the fine is issued on the spot
'All of us police' teams monitor cars through "modern cameras" installed on main roads and crowded areas
"The violations reported by the public reflect the fact that people, like the police, are keen on safety of road users and want to cooperate with the police to achieve its strategic goal of zero accident death toll by the year 2020. We cannot achieve this goal without people's help and cooperation," he said
