(MENAFN -Arab News) It is about time the region had someone of its own representing it in various fields, since there is no dearth of talent in the Middle East. One such hip-hop artist is Majeed popularly known as Majeed Suave, who is slowly trying to create a niche for himself internationally with his music videos

Born in Dhahran, Saudi Arabia, Majeed is Saudi but has been raised in various countries around the globe, including London, Houston, Bahrain and Lebanon. The artist credits his dad for introducing him to music at an early stage in his childhood

Majeed’s first music video was Fatima, after which his parents realized his seriousness toward music, albeit they wished he would curse less in his videos.

Majeed is influenced by Bob Marley, given the fact that he spent years in South Florida where he had many Jamaican friends.

The young artists also hold a degree in Business Management and Film Studies.

“My dad likes things which are guaranteed and the music industry is very volatile, hence I am a property consultant too.” He also holds a degree in Business Management and film studies,” he explained

Below is an excerpt of the interview with the hip-hop artist

What can you tell us about your upcoming albums

I have a Mixtape called “Tomato Soup” coming out late December — early January, It’s a laid back album something you can cruise to. I touch base on middle-class problems, and some feel good records as well as introspecting and talking about my weaknesses.

When did you start rapping and what inspired you to become a rapper

I started rapping in my senior year of college. I was inspired by othr musicians as I felt music was a great tool to convey any message; so I nurtured my passion and decided I wanted to be one of the voices that talks to the youth and addresses average peoples concerns.

How aware do you think people are about international music, like hip-hop in the Middle East

Its growing slowly, but its happening; soon enough people will begin checking for our genre of artists, as of right now they’re only a few who are internationally known on the microphone; I’m not one of them, but I will be. Don’t believe me, just watch ” Trinidad James voice .

What does your music represent

In general I only represent myself

How did you end up getting the term “suave” to your name

“Suave” stands for smooth in Spanish and I speak un poco espanol, and my ex-girlfriend used to always tell me I was a smooth talker, because I always knew how to explain things and get out of problems with my words. I’ve also been told that I create smooth music, so some people began to call me suave, and the name just stuck; that’s just my alter ego though, my artist name is Majeed

Where can we find your music or see you perform

I will be performing soon. Right now I’m focusing on finishing up this project.
