Emirates Islamic wins double recognition at ICT Achievement Awards 2013


(MENAFNEditorial) Emirates Islamic, one of the leading Islamic financial institutions in the UAE, today announced that it had won double recognition at the 4th annual Computer News Middle East ICT Achievement Awards in Dubai, with the award for 'BFSI Deployment of the Year' and the 'Future CIO of the Year'



The awards follow the successful end-to-end integration of two prominent Islamic banks, including their banking systems, channels, infrastructure, processes and people, undertaken and executed by Emirates Islamic within a record time of six months



"Innovation in banking technology is leading the way in the financial services industry today, and Emirates Islamic is at the forefront of this change," said Jamal Bin Ghalaita, CEO, Emirates Islamic. "We are delighted to receive the CNME ICT Achievement Awards, as it is a token of the industry's recognition of EI's success in planning and executing IT initiatives to best suit its customer needs.



BFSI award honours financial sector organisations that can truly demonstrate the efficient use of information technology to create positive change within the organisation, and customise the products and services offered to customers. The award also recognises organisations in the banking and finance sector that are at the forefront of information technology. The BFSI category was heavily contested with 10 nominations from across the GCC region



Zubair Ahmed, VP, Head of IT & Business Innovation at Emirates Islamic, won the Future CIO award, an industry independent recognition, for individuals who have made outstanding contributions towards enabling businesses to serve the needs of its customers through better use of technology



Now a main fixture on the region's technology calendar, the CNME ICT Achievement Awards, are into their fourth edition, and celebrated the best and the brightest deployments of technology over the past year. Winners for the evening were picked by an expert panel of judges
