MENA economies remain depressed 3 years after Arab Spring

(MENAFN) The economies of Middle East and North Africa (MENA) countries remain depressed three year following the Arab Spring, Arab News reported

According to a report by the World Bank, turmoil in Egypt and Tunisia and the civil war in Syria and its ramifications on Jordan and Lebanon has weakened the countries' economy

The Industrial production in the oil-importing countries in the MENA region fell 3.6 percent in the three months to October, 2013, mainly due to a plunge of 44 percent in Egypt

The tourism sector was also significantly hit by the troubles in the oil-importing countries due to the civil in Syria and the political issues in Egypt which seeped through to neighboring Jordan and Lebanon. Tourist arrivals in the countries dipped 57 percent in the three months to September
