GCC Team For Energy Affairs To Meet Tomorrow in Riyadh


(MENAFN- Qatar News Agency) The 11th meeting of the GCC team for energy affairs in the World Trade Organisation (WTO) and the Free Trade Agreement (FTA) will begin tomorrow, Tuesday at the headquarters of the GCC General-Secretariat in Riyadh.



The team will review a number of topics relating to energy issues, including the decision of the Petroleum Cooperation Committee on the European Union's decision to re-impose a fee on jet fuel import



Meanwhile the GCC Water and electricity officials will meet in Kuwait tomorrow, Tuesday to discuss the linkage project, said an official sourc



The meeting is being organised by the GCC's Electricity Cooperation Committe



The source said the committee will explore the possibility of implementing the joint legal and legislative rules to strengthen rationalising the consumption of water and electricity, in addition to discussing subscribers' services in the Gul



The average daily consumption of water per individual in the Gulf states varies between 300 and 750 litres daily, which is the highest in the worl



This is due to the absence of "demand management", government focus on increasing water supply through building desalination plants, and increasing dependence on ground wate



Gulf States suffer from low public awareness about the value of water resource



The Cooperation Council for the Arab States of the Gulf (GCC) countries have the highest water desalination capacity in the world, and the productivity of their plants is more than 50% of total world production
