UAE - Murder cases: Execution of 5 postponed in Sharjah


(MENAFN- Khaleej Times) The men involved in three separate crimes were to be executed on Sunday morning by the firing squad at Sharjah Central Jail.



The Sharjah Public Prosecution has postponed the execution of five men convicted for murder on account of the Prophet's birthday. The death sentence was pronounced by the Supreme Court last year. The prosecution said that according to plans, the five men involved in three separate crimes were to be executed on Sunday morning by the firing squad at Sharjah Central Jail



The official said that the five men were from various nationalities



In the first case, three Bangladeshis identified as A.A; Q.T; and M.N, strangled an Indian man identified as T.A on July 2, 2007. The dispute was over a woman



The fourth person to be executed is an Egyptian identified as A.A who killed another Egyptian on June 15, 2008



The fifth person to be executed is a Sir Lankan man identified as R.K. who ran over an Emirati man



All five convicts had failed to get pardon from the families of the victims. They refused to receive the blood money
