Qatar- Zakat Fund Spends QAR 11 Million in Two Months


(MENAFN- Qatar News Agency) The Zakat fund of the Ministry of Endowments and Islamic Affairs (Awqaf) spent nearly QAR 11 million during the months of November and December 2013, on its urgent and monthly assistance programmes



The Zakat Fund said in a statement today that it had spent QAR 10 million and 821 thousand on its monthly programmes, of which 651 families in Qatar has benefited



The statement pointed out that the Fund received 859 assistance requests 137 of them were not approved due to lack of eligibility, and 81 were put on hold for discussion



It stressed that the approval of the requests is subject to the completion of all documents that indicate the presence of a real need, pointing at the same time that it, the Fund, attaches importance to the urgent assistance requests, where they are discussed and decided upon as quickly as possible

The Zakat fund affirmed its commitment to distributing Zakat funds according to Sharia.
