ITF chairman to visit Oman

(MENAFN- Muscat Daily) International Tennis Federation (ITF) chief Francesco Ricci Bitti will arrive in Oman on January 8 for a three-day visit.

He has been the ITF chief since 1999, and is serving his fourth term at the helm. Bitti will hold talks with Oman Olympic Committee (OOC) chairman Khalid al Zubair and Oman Tennis Association (OTA) chief Mutassim al Zadjali during his visit.

Bitti was the chairman of the ITF junior competitions committees from 1977-97 and a member of the ITF's board of directors from 1987-97.

The Italian is also the current Association of Summer Olympic International Federations (ASOIF) president.

Bitti took over from Denis Oswald, president of the World Rowing Federation, on January 1, 2013 and become only the third president of the organisation in its nearly 30-year history.

The ASOIF, founded in 1983, is made up of the 28 international federations on the programme of the Summer Olympic Games and protects their common interests.
