Abu Dhabi may need to lower industrial growth target


(MENAFN) A senior official with UAE government said that Abu Dhabi is not likely to achieve its industrial growth target by 2020 and may need to lower it, Arabian Business reported. The initial target for industry to was to increase its contribution to 19 percent of the economy by 2020 and 24 percent by 2030. The director-general of Abu Dhabi"s new Industrial Development Bureau (IDB) said that the emirate is heavily investing to diversify its economy, but the industrial growth target is difficult to achieve. "Progress has been flat after the (global) crisis. It is not impossible, but it is difficult to achieve," he said.
